Revitalizing Originals & Rejuvenating Covers - Nescafe Basement 5 Couldn't Have Been Any Better

The much anticipated Nescafe Basement Season 5 finally concluded after giving us unforgettable songs to cherish for the rest of the year. It would be safe to state that not only did Nescafe Basement Season 5 lived up to our expectations but exceeded them in every way possible. This season was all about setting new trends through experimenting with sound, defining its own identity, introducing new stars, and igniting hope in the hearts of countless new musicians looking for a platform to showcase their talent.

Nescafe Basement 5

This season surpassed all the previous seasons in terms of popularity and quality of music – the long wait was all worth it! From Bol Hu to Resistance, the variety was quite rich that captured the attention of music listeners of all genres. Not to forget Haiderium - an original Qawwali that won a lot of appraise from the listeners - was one of the highlights of the show.

Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan – the man with a vision – made sure listeners get to enjoy the true flavor of Pakistani music, which was lost somewhere. He always talks about learning, experimenting, enjoying and most importantly evolving; all of it was quite evident throughout the season. Season 5 saw young musicians showcasing their talent with the very best in business.

The number of songs was not that big but this is where quality over quantity rule fits perfectly. We saw Aadat’s instrumental version where Goher Mumtaz played with 24 other musicians taking us all to a nostalgic trip. The use of folk and contemporary instruments in this song took it to a whole new level where it will probably rule the hearts for another 15 or 20 years. The rendition of Haroon’s Mehbooba proved to be one of the most popular songs of this season garnering over 5 million views and still counting. Kids also contributed to make this season super hit with Hadia Hashmi – the eight-year-old kid – making headlines with Bol Hu and the All Kids Band making Fakhar-e-Alam go all crazy with their cover of his song Pyar Diyan Gallan. Each musician contributed to the immense success of this season. And what could be a better way to close the season by paying tribute to Abida Parveen - one of the greatest Sufi singers to ever grace this planet with her music – with the remake of her songs Gharoli and Ghoom Charakhra.

We are still caught in the mystic of this season and hope it continues to produce more quality music keeping us all hooked to the TV screens.

One of the best reviews I have read so far. I don’t know the writer but she/he has eloquently described my personal views. Kudos Ravesh!
